Northumberland-Quinte West MP Rick Norlock refused to meet with community activist fighting to save a prison farm as the Conservatives make major cuts to the system.
The Kingston Whig-Standard reports Norlock toured the Frontenac prison Monday with Liberal critic Mark Holland.
Tories are cutting the farm program to save $4 million as Corrections Canada introduces new programs to replace it.
Community activists continue to fight to keep the farm, saying it provides useful skills and helps defray costs. However, Holland said he was disappointed Norlock would not take the time to meet with them.
