Politicians listened as staff provided an update on the fire at 8 King St. W. that left one person dead and 20 people homeless, as county staff heaped praise on those who helped the tenants and the community at large.
The Social Services Committee heard the annual report on Northumberland County’s social housing projects, including a review of the January fire.
Members were also updated on the progress for the 123 King Street project in Colborne, the 62-unit development at 473 Ontario Street in Cobourg, the addition of two units at 129 Kent Street in Campbellford, and the wrap-up of the Elgin Park redevelopment in Cobourg.
Listen for the report and debate:
In Their Words is a feature that allows people to listen to what is going on at the various councils within Northumberland. No spin. No opinions. No one is telling you what to think. Just what was said.
It is a chance you might not have otherwise to hear directly from your elected representatives. I hope you find it useful and informative.
