There were nearly 2,500 visits to the warming room this past winter, serving 176 individuals, according to a report recently delivered to the county’s social services committee.
Rebecca Snelgrove, Associate Director, Housing and Homelessness Community and Social Services, provided a summary report to politicians regarding the 2025/2026 season.
The county used a room at its headquarters at 555 Courthouse Road as a temporary shelter, operating mainly at night, for 137 days starting on November 27, 2025.
The warming room became a focus of debate during the season when concerns were raised about the requirements to keep users awake while in the room.
The cost of the warming room was $220,000, most of which went to security services and cleaning.
