A conservation program could soon be coming to the Municipality of Brighton, as a resident recently suggested offering rain barrels to homeowners.
While the cost to implement the program would be minimal, it could save homeowners on the water bills by lowering town demand and strain on supply of potable water.
A staff report prepared for Council indicates there are two suppliers willing to work with Council on distributing the barrels at a cost of $50 each, but billed directly by the supplier to the town.
The cost of the program is expected to be $15,000 with any unused money being directed for the program next spring.
