I knew Mark Nasmith when he was a kid growing up in Grafton. His mother, Cecilia, and I worked together at the Cobourg Daily Star. I have known her for decades. The same for him.
In this interview, you will hear from Mark. After a career in the military, Mark has authored a book. It is based on his experience transitioning from a military career to a civilian one. This is after he discovered he had post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, and he faced an addiction.
The book is called Float, Move, Fight: An Addiction Recovery Guide for Military, Police, and First Responders.
You will hear about his career in the Royal Canadian Air Force, how PTSD unexpectedly crippled him, how he became an addict, and his road to recovery. On this journey, he decided to write this book and is currently pursuing his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.
If you know Mark or know someone facing an addiction or know a person serving in the military, police, or is a first responder, you will want to hear what he has to say.
