One rural business in Northumberland County is expressing frustration with Hydro One’s response time in restoring power, following a major ice storm in March, which left many areas of Ontario without power for several days.
Jim Corcoran, owner and general manager of Ste. Anne’s Spa told county Mayors on Wednesday that its operations had been without electricity for five days, not only disrupting its business operations, but also causing food spoilage.
He alleges that response times have worsened since Hydro One relocated its response centre from Cobourg to Peterborough.
Corcoran says while he was able to weather the outage, other rural businesses may struggle.
Northumberland County is committed to advocating for rural businesses in their issues with Hydro One.
