After some tense moments and uncertainty about whether homeless people in Northumberland County would have a warm place to stay overnight during the winter, county mayors have agreed on a location.
The County Administration Building’s Council Chambers will act as the warming room as officials work towards a long-term solution.
In July, the warming room at the emergency shelter in downtown Cobourg was closed over complaints from area residents and businesses concerned about crime and drug use.
The warming room could operate as early as mid-November, but strict conditions would need to be agreed to for approval from the Town of Cobourg.
