Trent Hills Mayor Bob Crate is very upset over the problems with the broadband rollout to underserved areas of Northumberland County, and he is not alone.
Crate and Port Hope Mayor Olena Hankivsky expressed concerns over damage to roads and culverts at the Aug. 13 regular county council meeting.
The issue arose when Chief Administration Officer Jennifer Moore reported to politicians, and Alnwick Haldimand Mayor John Logel asked for an additional report on the broadband effort.
Trent Hills council sent a strongly worded letter expressing their dismay over the current situation, saying there is no indication the company doing the work is prepared to repair any damage.
The county entered into a private-public partnership to provide 11,000 homes and businesses that currently lie in underserved or unserved areas with reliable internet at a total cost of $65 million.
