A local group in Brighton is hoping to help reforest Presqu’ile Provincial Park, suggesting that urgent action is required.
Friends of Presqu’ile Park hope to meet with a forester to develop a planting plan, but also survey the current situation in the Park.
Dan Riggs, Director of Grants with the non-profit, says high winds have downed trees, and Emerald Ash Borer is wreaking havoc on the ash tree population.
Riggs told Brighton council Monday that ash trees make up 30 percent of the tree population in the park.
Riggs explained his organization is not looking for money from the council, but rather a motion of support to strengthen their proposal.
