Drastic changes are again coming to the operator of the homeless shelter in Northumberland County.
The Board of Directors for Transition House announced Executive Director Ike Nwibe will be leaving the position later in September.
The Board was quick to name Christian Harvey, hoping he can settle the organization in the interim as a permanent replacement is secured.
In the past 10 months, Transition House has opened the emergency, low-barrier shelter in Cobourg, its employees unionized, and was forced by the county to operate as a high-barrier shelter, following extreme pushback from area residents and businesses.
Board Chair Meaghan Macdonald says despite the challenges of the past, she is optimistic about Transition House’s future.
