Port Hope resident Angela Grogan is promoting Black History Month in Northumberland for the second year in a row. She has already participated in several events commemorating February as a time to honour the various contributions of Black Canadians.
Joining her is Dan Buchanan, Brighton’s history guy. He is the author of multiple books on local history, particularly the sinking of the HMS Speedy off Presqu’ile Park and the building of the Murray Canal. He will offer some rare insights into local history related to Black Canadians in reference to the Speedy and Carrying Place on the eastern border of Northumberland. Have a listen.
