The United Way Northumberland is partnering with area automotive dealerships and other businesses in the industry for the next two months to raise money for food security, mental health initiatives, and affordable housing.
Over the next two months, four vehicle dealerships will donate $10 for each new or pre-owned vehicle sold.
Other businesses in the auto sector are making donations directly to the United Way.
The Cars for Community fundraiser started several years ago, when Cobourg Honda approached the United Way to help raise funds.
Since then, United Way Executive Director Alicia Vandine says the program has undergone significant expansion. She says this year’s goal is to raise $10,000, up from $6000 last year.
