When we think of virtual reality, we often think of computer-based gaming. But in April, the Northumberland Manufacturers Association and nVenture launched a pilot program to use this technology to help hire workers.
Many people leave a manufacturing job within 90 days. This is mainly because they don’t understand what is expected once they are hired. This leads to high turnover in factory jobs, which is costly and discouraging for both employees and employers.
Darla Price, executive director of the Northumberland Manufacturers Association, said in a statement that the project has been busy.
“Over the past 3 months, we’ve had to educate a lot of people on the simulations. As it’s such a new technology for our industry and a new way to help recruit staff people, we’ve provided a lot of educational opportunities. We have hosted live demonstrations with many manufacturers, who have stated – they believe using this new tool will help them hire the right people – BUT – at this time, many in our industry are not hiring (too many economical challenges right now), so we haven’t put the training into full motion yet. But – thats’ ok – we’re happy with where we’re at. I have included some of our activities over the past while to show what we’re up to,” she said.
Listen, and see if you think this is a good solution to the problem.
