Cobourg residents living near Victoria Park want changes to how the park operates to discourage homelessness and criminal activity.
They claim the iconic floral clock on the eastern edge of the Park is a magnet for drug use, drug deals, and other illegal acts.
Some of the recommended changes presented Tuesday at the Cobourg Police Services Board meeting include additional lighting, night-timed water sprinklers, and closing the park earlier.
Increased foot patrols have already been identified for Victoria Park, residents were told.
The lack of suitable housing, especially during the summer, means that people living rough will be visible to the public.
Police Chief Paul VandeGraaf says officers ensure the park is used properly.
