The Port Hope Racquet Club is getting over $682,000 from the Ontario Government to perform major expansion work.
A fourth tennis court will be added, along with renovations and resurfacing of the existing three courts.
The major project for the club will be to construct a dome to allow users year-round access to the courts.
The upgrades are expected to increase community participation, as the club aims to enhance programs for children to seniors.
Construction is anticipated to start this fall and be completed by raising the dome next autumn.
Racquet Club President Gillian Smith-Clark says the club received a pledge of $140,000 through their “Raise the Dome” fundraising campaign.
