Port Hope’s Fire Chief just received top honours from a provincial organization. The Ontario Municipal Fire Prevention Officers Association named Jason Williams the 2026 Fire Chief of the Year.
In this interview, you will meet Jason Williams. We will talk about his career, from starting out as an occupational health and safety officer to serving as an investigator at the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office. Then, we will follow it all the way to his appointment as fire chief in Port Hope.
But that is not all. He will tell us about a comprehensive wildland fire management plan for the Ganaraska forest that was brought before council earlier this week. It is the first of its kind in Ontario.
