The Ontario Liberals are calling for Northumberland-Peterborough South MPP and Minister of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development David Piccini to resign from Cabinet in the wake of an Auditor General’s report that his office was directly involved in awarding projects under the Skills Development Fund, which ranked low, and that the reasons for the decisions were not documented.
Liberal MPP Stephanie Smyth says the Auditor General also flagged projects submitted by lobbyists were awarded, referencing Piccini attending a wedding for a lobbyist in Paris.
Smyth and the Liberals have written to the Integrity Commissioner to investigate whether Piccini violated parliamentary conventions in administering the Skills Development Fund.
