A Garden Hill resident highlighted multiple concerns about a proposed development at 3852 Ganaraska Road, including what he saw as negative environmental and community impacts, during a Northumberland County public works committee meeting on Jan. 5.
Glenn Deeth, of the Garden Hill Neighbourhood Group, raised concerns over the access location at Frost Avenue, saying it is unsuitable due to its impact on privacy, light pollution, and potential tree removal.
He proposed three alternative access options, including an access road from Ganaraska Road, a new street, or no access at all.
Deeth, an experienced municipal engineer with 35 years of experience in road design and construction, said it was important to recognize the principle of “do no harm” when creating roads.
He also provided technical and legal context, including an Ontario Land Tribunal decision.
In Their Words is a feature that allows people to listen in on what is happening at the various councils in Northumberland. No spin. No opinions. No one is telling you what to think. Just what was said.
It is a chance you might not have otherwise to hear directly from your elected representatives. I hope you find it useful and informative.
