The expansion of pickleball in Baltimore has been put on hold as Hamilton Township explores a compromise to accommodate the growing, very popular sport.
The Cobourg Pickleball Club approached the Township in October to propose constructing eight pickleball courts at the Baltimore Recreation Centre.
That site has converted space for five pickleball courts.
Yet to complete the eight requested courts, the Township would need to draw on its Parks and Recreation budget reserves to create a nearly $100,000 deficit.
This worried council, with Mayor Scott Jibb wondering if the construction could be done in phases.
