Five years ago, the Ontario government struck an agreement with the federal government to introduce $10/day daycare in the province. The plan was simple. Make childcare affordable to Canadian parents.
In this interview, Northumberland YMCA Executive Director Eunice Kirkpatrick will reflect on what’s happening with daycare in the county. The YMCA is the largest provider of daycare services in the area. While the cost for parents is $12 a day for those who qualify, many pay almost twice as much. It is still cheaper than before, but there are many challenges.
