
Cramahe Township residents are well aware of the 3.79 percent budget increase for 2026. For the average homeowner with a $400,000 proeprty assessment, it will mean an extra $177 on the township portion of the tax bill.
What may not be as apparent are the reasons for this tax hike. The new pumper fire truck, the replacement of the Keeler Centre’s ice cooling system, and the capital budget are some of the highlights. The Animal Services contract sparked a lengthy debate over its $34,000 request. But council ended up allotting half that amount. It is requesting more details from the Northumberland Humane Society.
