The Alderville First Nation is hosting its annual powwow this weekend. The theme for this year’s event is “Honouring Our Woodland Spirit.”
Saturday night will feature a live drum contest with dancers showcasing woodland-designed regalia. Aiden Gorveatt, the Cultural Program Advisor for the Alderville First Nation, says the powwow is about reclaiming their traditions and their culture.
Grand Entries and sunrise ceremonies will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Powwow grounds on the Alderville First Nation.
