Municipalities across Northumberland are finalizing their 2026 budgets. Politicians struggle to meet their communities’ needs while balancing a reasonable increase. Taxpayers are anxiously awaiting the property tax bills to see the results, as an affordability crisis is very real for many.
In this interview, there is a good example of this struggle. Alnwick Haldimand Mayor John Logel will talk about the 2026 municipal budget passed last week. Like other municipalities, residents in Alnwick Haldimand are expressing their concerns. We heard from one such resident last week.
Have a listen. See what you think about the mayor’s explanations and justifications for council’s decisions. See if you have heard similar arguments in your community.
This was a complex and detailed interview.
