An elementary school teacher from Port Hope could be sent to prison after pleading guilty to sexual offenses involving minors.
Kelly-Ann Jennings entered a guilty plea voluntarily in a Peterborough courtroom today to luring a child and child pornography offenses. The parents of the victims were in the public gallery for the proceedings.
The Crown is seeking a four-year prison sentence, stating this reflects the severity of the crime, but also acts as a deterrent to sex crimes with minors. The defense lawyer is requesting a two-year conditional sentence, as Jennings has suffered loss of job and community standing.
Jennings will be sentenced later this month.
A publication ban is in effect to protect the identity of the victims.
