A Port Hope mom and mortgage broker is teaming up with the United Way Northumberland to help children with back-to-school supplies.
Sarah Turck has challenged the community to fill the bed of her Dodge Ram Truck with crayons, pens, pencils, and other supplies as she and the United Way look to create 850 backpacks for children in Northumberland County.
Turck, who was a member of a local school board, says she understands the struggles some families face when preparing their children for September classes.
Alicia Vandine, Executive Director of the United Way Northumberland, says the backpacks will be designed for specific grades and will be distributed over the coming months.
