It is heralded as the World’s Largest Nuclear Power plants. It promises to create thousands of jobs and add billions to the provincial economy. And Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and Port Hope signed a partnership agreement known as a Memorandum of Understanding two weeks ago. It is meant to get the process underway.
In this interview, Port Hope Mayor Olena Hankivsky is going set out what is included in this agreement as council and residents prepare to debate the project. She will outline the terms, the money, the goals, and the objectives for this initial stage. The mayor will provide her thoughts on local engagement and the role of those outside Port Hope who wish to comment, as she lays out the framework going forward.
