With food bank usage on the rise in Port Hope, officials with Northumberland Food Share are seeking a better location and a newer vehicle to enhance services to clients.
The Port Hope Food Bank operates out of the United Church one day a week, while food bank services in Cobourg are offered three days a week.
More than 10,000 people are expected to access Food Share in Port Hope this year, more than doubling since pre-pandemic levels.
Statistics indicate that more than one-third of clients using the food bank in Port Hope are children, followed by middle-aged people.
