
The Port Hope Police Services Board and the Chief were asked to sharpen their pencils after the $8.4 million draft police budget was presented to council recently.

He explains why 80 percent of the budget is allocated to salaries and benefits, with another major chunk set aside for mandated provincial requirements. He says the alternative is to find innovative ways to provide the level of service needed.
