
Nothing helps someone sick in the hospital more than having loved ones or friends giving the support they need. It’s not just visitors. It is someone who makes sure the patient is being looked after, cared for, and loved.
Northumberland Hills Hospital is undertaking a groundbreaking initiative, starting now, to ensure this happens. It is called the Essential Caregiver Pilot Program. It will empower up to two people to hold a special status to work with the medical team and help patients.
Howard Goodfellow, an advisor to the program, and Jennifer Gillard, vice president, patient experience, public affairs, and strategic partnerships at the hospital, will explain how it works and the benefits.
