The Canada Post Strike is hampering a major fundraising tradition for the Legion.
Mail delivery has been suspended since September 25.
However, with the Legion Poppy Campaign soon to get underway, communications for donations will have to happen through email, social media, and phone calls, as letters won’t be distributed.
Jennifer Robison, Poppy Campaign Chair for Cobourg Legion Branch 133, is expecting donations to be down, similar to when COVID was impacting social gatherings.
With fewer donations, funding for local veteran programs will be affected. Historically, the Poppy Campaign begins on the final Friday of October and continues through Remembrance Day.
