Renovations to the Memorial Arena in Grafton are underway. Following months of controversy and intense debate, the 76-year-old structure is undergoing major work.
The debate around the Alnwick-Haldimand Township council table on this issue was tense, as were the discussions within the community. The expense was approved. Yet there remains a lingering uneasiness.
In this interview, you will hear from Councillor Mike Ainsworth, one of the vocal and passionate supporters of the project. He will unpack this project from multiple aspects, addressing many of the concerns raised at council and in the community.
For the sake of balance and fairness, Councillor Mary Catherine O’Neill, who raised many questions and concerns about the project, was invited to give a similar interview on this topic but turned it down.
Ainsworth also provides his views on council’s recent decision to change integrity commissioners. He was absent when council voted.
