There was lots of rain in April. There was so much that Environment Canada issued some warnings for our area. A total of 81.3 mm fell during the entire month. Just last week, a flood watch was extended for the Rice Lake Shoreline.
So, what’s going on?
In this interview, Ganaraska Region Conservation Authority hydrologist Cory Harris will explain it. He will talk about water levels and why, despite some good weather last week, West Northumberland continues to experience issues. He will also explain how development, climate change, and other factors contribute to the current conditions. He will also help shed light on the fancy terms experts use when discussing floods and water levels.
Have a listen and see if this helps you understand all the flood watches and warnings in effect.
